Guernsey accountancy firm Cleland & Co has promoted two of its staff to manager level.
Scarlet Bruce-Ide joined the firm in August 2018 and Manon Segers in August 2015. Both are qualified accountants, with Scarlet completing her ACCA qualification in 2020 and Manon in 2021.
Cleland & Co’s client base spans the spectrum of the Guernsey economy; Manon specialises in audit services, with a number of clients in the local fiduciary sector, whereas Scarlet’s clientele is mainly made up of local businesses and sole traders.
Scarlet and Manon will now take on a larger portfolio of clients, overseeing projects from start to finish. They will also take on increased responsibility for billing, planning jobs and liaising directly with directors. People management and pastoral care will be a large focus of their new roles, as they will help to develop the firm’s trainees.
Scarlet said: “I love the variety of the work I do at Cleland as well as the positive atmosphere and strong team spirit. Being able to watch and learn from others’ experiences over the past few years has given me the skills I need to take on my own portfolio and keep delivering the personal service that Cleland is known for.”
Manon said: “I value building long-term, meaningful relationships with my clients, something I’ll be able to focus on even more as a manager. I joined Cleland as a trainee and it’s been great to grow with a firm since leaving school and create a career here.”
Samantha Cox, Director at Cleland and Co, said: “Both of these promotions solidify our approach toward training and progression. At Cleland we put emphasis on being able to offer training for all our employees. Scarlet and Manon have demonstrated that they can handle client portfolios, technical skillsets, and also people management by looking out for the wellbeing of the team.
“Scarlet and Manon have developed into well-rounded professionals as a result, and it’s very important to us as a firm to promote from within. We are a very people-focused business so it’s incredibly rewarding to recognise the talents of Scarlet and Manon with these promotions.”
