The team at L’Horizon Beach Hotel and Spa are celebrating two big wins ahead of the 2024 season.
Hand Picked Hotels has awarded the AA Four Red Star hotel in St Brelade its Hotel of the Year accolade; and its longest-serving member of staff has been named Employee of the Year.
The accolade was presented to Simon Miller, Channel Islands Regional General Manager during the annual awards ceremony held recently at Brandshatch Place Hotel and Spa.
Julia Hands, Founder and Chairman of Hand Picked Hotels commented: “I know I speak for everyone at Hand Picked when I say how delighted we are for L’Horizon at their achievement in winning our two most coveted accolades in our annual awards celebration.
“L’Horizon has consistently received exemplary customer feedback and enjoyed both excellent levels of staff retention and a solid commercial performance. We are also incredibly proud of Alan, as one of our longest serving team members, for his invaluable contribution to L’Horizon over such a long period of time.
“We are thrilled for Alan that his unwavering dedication to L’Horizon and his commitment to the team and to our guests in ensuring our meticulous standards are upheld, has been recognised with this prestigious accolade.”
It’s the second time that L’Horizon Beach Hotel and Spa has taken home the award having previously won in 2019. This year the Hotel was also commended for its retention of staff and with an impressive 49 years under his belt, Maintenance Co-ordinator Alan Ronxin was certainly deserving of the Employee of the Year award.
Mr Ronxin started at the Hotel at the age of 18 as a maintenance helper and held various positions before being promoted to Maintenance Manager in 2000; a position he proudly undertook for a further 21 years before handing over the reins and stepping down into his current role. His unequalled knowledge of the building and passion for ‘getting it right’ for customers remains invaluable for the entire team.
Commenting on his win, Mr Ronxin said: “I’m very honoured to have won this award. We have got a good team and I’m not ready for retirement yet so as long as L’Horizon will have me, I’ll be here!”
