Deloitte Partners John Clacy and Jo Huxtable are celebrating 30 years with the firm and Partner David Becker has also reached a milestone anniversary with 25 years of service.
John and David worked their way up the Deloitte ladder beginning as trainees and climbing the ranks to Partner. Jo has also risen to become Channel Islands Tax Partner since she moved to Guernsey 18 years ago.
John Clacy joined Deloitte in Guernsey as an audit trainee. He progressed through the firm with periods spent abroad in London, Jersey and South Africa on client assignments. John was made Partner in 2006, which came with responsibility for the Channel Islands practice from 2014 to 2020. His role now is leading the firm’s Financial Service Portfolio Practice, which includes the Crown Dependencies, Gibraltar, the UK funds and pension practice, fintech and a number of other associated sectors.
He said: “‘I believe that the secret to success is focusing on clients, people and having fun along the way. The challenges, the successes and the variety of my job has meant I’ve never been bored, and I’ve had the best time so far. What’s made my life at Deloitte so great, is the people you meet along the way. I can’t wait to see what the next few years have in store.”
Jo Huxtable began her career in London when she joined Arthur Andersen Tax in 1991. She relocated to Guernsey when Deloitte acquired the UK firm of Arthur Andersen and was given the opportunity to lead the Guernsey tax team. Jo has led the Channel Islands tax team since 2008 and was promoted to Partner in 2011. She is also the President of the GSCCA and Co-Chair of the Guernsey Green Forum.
Jo added: “I’m passionate about working in an organisation that has an inclusive and diverse culture, and that’s also why I became one of the firm’s People & Purpose partners.
“I believe the secret to success is being true to oneself. Deloitte is an enormous organisation and strength lies in teams which bring together different perspectives and are accepting of individuality. As a woman in a senior role at this organisation, I want to help inspire the younger generation to follow in my footsteps. You can achieve great things simply by being yourself.”
David Becker joined Deloitte in Guernsey as an audit trainee in 1996. Like John, David progressed through the firm and was promoted to Partner in 2014 and now leads the Guernsey audit practice. He has gained experience in several industry sectors over his time at Deloitte.
David said: “In my opinion, the secret to success is to establish a sustainable balance between work and home life. I was lucky enough to meet my wife, Louise, who was also training at Deloitte when I joined the company. Work life balance is undervalued, and I want to help encourage others at Deloitte to understand the importance of getting this right.”
