The Jersey National Park’s Picnic in the Park is back throughout the month of August.
The pleasure of long sunny days, with lots of opportunities to get together with friends and family, and to enjoy delicious food in the stunning locations across the Park – what’s not to love?
Locals and tourists enjoying our Curiously Brit…(ish) Island, are being invited to discover the natural beauty of the Jersey National Park and enjoy a taste of authentic, local produce with some al fresco, blanket-based foodie fun.
Picnic in the Park is supported by Visit Jersey, Genuine Jersey and the Jersey Hospitality Association. Families, groups of friends and organisations can organise their own picnic, either self-created or bought in from local hospitality suppliers.
Get hands-on with your picnic by visiting one of the Island’s local farmers markets or stalls and create your own picnic from scratch, using the best Genuine Jersey produce Jersey has to offer.
Or alternatively choose from one of 14 Picnic in the Park partners – including an array of restaurants, hotels, delis and cafés – who have created some delicious picnic menus showcasing the best of their cuisine and the local produce available in Jersey. There is ample to pick from including charcuterie platters, gourmet sandwiches, grazing boxes, afternoon teas, local beverages and lots more.
This year’s partners are The Atlantic Hotel & Ocean Restaurant, Clarity Wines, Flour Patisserie, Grand Jersey, Jersey Pearl, Kismet, L’Horizon, Love Cake, Relish, SCOOP, The Hungary Gal, The Jersey Grazing Company, The Wise Owl Café and Stinky Bay Brewing Co.
All the options will be made available to order online via Jersey National Park’s website from Thursday 28th July onwards, meaning the only thing left to do is to choose the picture-perfect picnic spot.
To launch this year’s campaign, The Jersey National Park is running a series of competitions on its social media pages. They have teamed up with some of the picnic providers and are giving people the chance to win a free picnic. To find out how to enter, go to either their Facebook or Instagram page.
Jim Hopley, MBE, Chairman of Jersey National Park, said: “This is the third year of Picnic in the Park, and we are pleased to see the initiative continue to grow. We’re delighted to be welcoming back some of our partners from 2021, as well as inviting some new partners too, giving you picnic ideas galore.”
Mr. Hopley continued: “We hope that everyone gets picnicking, whether self-created using fresh Jersey produce or bought from one of our wonderful local hospitality suppliers.”
The public is being encouraged to share their favourite picnic spots by simply posting their photos on Facebook or Instagram and tagging @jerseynationalpark #picnicinthepark #jerseynationalpark. They are also being reminded to picnic responsibly and abide by the Jersey Countryside Code and the Government’s ‘Leave No Trace’ campaign.
