Guernsey’s Puffin & Oyster is to throw open its doors following an extensive refurbishment inside and out.
The pub previously known as The Houmet, managed by Liberation Pubs & Bars (part of Liberation Group), will unveil its new look on Wednesday 22nd June 2022.
Located on the beach at Le Grand Havre, The Puffin & Oyster has been completely remodelled. Visitors will be greeted by brand-new alfresco drinking and dining decked areas with seating for around 140, edged with raised planters and with incredible views across the bay. There’s also a heated, covered terrace with a retractable awning. The pub’s exterior has been updated with cedar cladding, the perfect backdrop for the site’s new branding and signage.
Jayson Perfect, Group Managing Director Pubs & Inns, Liberation Group says: “The pub looks incredible, inside and out. It’s quite a transformation! We’re looking forward to showing off what we’ve done and to welcoming guests once again to this beautiful spot on the island. The high-end interiors and styling reflect what’s going on in the kitchen and behind the bar – the very best, award-winning food and drink and excellent hospitality.”
The Puffin & Oyster’s menu will (as its name suggests) focus on local seafood such as oysters, calamari, Guernsey crab, local scallops and roasted skate wing, available alongside hearty pub classics and family favourites.
Jayson continues: “This refurbishment is the latest in a series of ongoing investment projects which have created exciting employment opportunities on the island as well as supporting much-needed tourism – following on from improvements we’ve made at The Ship & Crown, Thomas de la Rue and The Deerhound most recently.”
The transformation continues inside with a light and bright open plan bar area with vast glass doors opening out onto the decked alfresco area. Reclaimed wood panels the walls hung with locally painted art work while chandeliers of rope and steel dramatically light the space. A selection of high tables and bespoke built-in upholstered seating create a variety of drinking and dining areas with amazing views out to sea.
