Cannon Asset Management Limited has announced the official launch of its first corporate partnership with the Eleanor Foundation.
The launch took place on the evening of 26 August 2021 at the stunning St James venue, overlooking St Peter Port, Guernsey, where a fundraising event was hosted to celebrate the partnership as well as raise funds for the charity. Funds raised by Cannon have already enabled the Eleanor Foundation to install a solar panel array at Muganza Health Centre in Chato District of Tanzania which services over 60,000 people. Funds from this event and their ongoing work together will go towards building shallow wells and further causes in the country’s rural communities.
Richard van Vliet, Managing Director at Cannon, said, ‘We are thrilled to launch this fantastic partnership with the Eleanor Foundation to help raise awareness and funds for these worthy causes. Like them, we are based in Guernsey but with strong links to Southern Africa, and we look forward to working with them in the future to affect continued change in these communities.’
The Eleanor Foundation works with communities in Tanzania to build better lives. It was created in 2012 following the tragic death of Eleanor Carey at the age of 22 whilst cycling in London. She had been studying International Development at London Metropolitan University.
Based in Guernsey, the Foundation has since been working in Tanzania principally facilitating the installation of improved water sources – shallow wells and spring protection schemes – in rural communities.
At this ‘Building Better Together’ event, guests were able to ‘purchase’ reusable water bottles, choosing how much they wanted to pay as a donation to the Foundation. A bicycle with jerrycans used in Tanzania to transport water was on display and guests could also try their hand at lifting a typical jerrycan to see just how heavy it is, showcasing how arduous the job of water collection can be for women and children who primarily perform this task.
Allister Carey, Founder of the Eleanor Foundation, commented, “All of us at the Eleanor Foundation are excited by this new partnership with Cannon. We are very grateful to them for their interest and commitment that will assist us in developing our work further in Tanzania.”
Cannon believes in building trustworthy, long-lasting, and multi-generational relationships with its clients and partners and looks forward to continued work with the Eleanor Foundation in the years to come.
