Jersey-based technology company Taxteq, have announced that Paul Aplin OBE will be joining them as Senior Advisor, effective immediately.
Paul is a well-known writer and commentator on tax and technology issues and has won a number of industry awards including the Outstanding Industry Contribution Award in the 2013 British Accountancy Awards and the Lifetime Achievement Award in the 2021 Taxation Awards. He was appointed OBE for services to the accountancy profession and for public service in the 2009 Birthday Honours List.
Additionally, Paul;
- was president of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) in 2018/19.
- spent many years as a tax partner with an independent West Country firm advising a broad range of personal and business tax clients, filed the UK’s first electronic personal tax return in 1997 and has since maintained a close interest in tax and financial technology.
- currently sits on the ICAEW Tax Faculty Board (and is a former chair of the Tax Faculty and Tax Faculty Technical Committee)
- is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) Council, the Tax Technology Committee of CFE Tax Advisers Europe, the Editorial Board of Tax Journal, HMRC’s Administrative Burdens Advisory Board and the Board of the Office of Tax Simplification.
