The three Ambassadors for this year’s Skipton Swimarathon are encouraging more islanders to sign up to swim in Guernsey’s largest annual fundraiser.
Min Henry, Tracey Hutchins and Dr. Nicola Brink (pictured with Chairman of the Skipton Swimarathon organising committee, John Stuart) are the faces behind this year’s event, which is in aid of GROW Limited. The Guernsey charity recently announced it had achieved its £3 million fundraising target, a sum which includes the amount already promised by the Swimarathon’s organisers. The charity, which supports people with a learning disability, was looking to raise funds for the redevelopment of its Coutanchez site. Money raised at this year’s Skipton Swimarathon will contribute towards fitting out the training café, which will be open to the public on completion.
Tracey Hutchins is at the heart of the day-to-day running of this year’s main beneficiary, GROW Limited. She is thrilled with the support shown by the Guernsey public, and is encouraging as many people as possible to join in the fun: “On behalf of everyone at GROW, we would like to thank each and every one of you who is donating, volunteering, organising and attending the Skipton Swimarathon. Everyone at GROW is truly grateful.”
Min Henry is the founder of Guernsey Swim All Seasons – a local open water swimming community that creates awareness of the mental and physical benefits that sea swimming can provide. Min said “The Skipton Swimarathon is hugely popular and I am so honoured to be an ambassador for 2022. If you haven’t already signed up to enter a team, please round up your friends and family and get your swimming lane booked in. You won’t regret it.”
Dr. Brink is looking forward to getting involved in the event once again. She said: “It is a huge honour and privilege to be asked to be an ambassador for the Skipton Swimarathon. My family and I swim every year and enjoy the fun-filled atmosphere. The more we can raise for GROW, the better.”
The Skipton Swimarathon is jointly organised by the Lions and Round Table, and will take place between 5 and 9 October at Beau Sejour, with teams able to register here.
