The Sure Community Foundation has donated a crucial life-saving automated external defibrillator to the Jersey Oxygen Therapy Centre.
The Centre, a registered charity providing essential therapies to individuals with long-term disabilities, recognised the need for a public access defibrillator on its premises. Given the vulnerability of its clients and the surrounding residential area, having immediate access to a defibrillator can be critical in emergency situations.
Lucienne De La Mare, Human Resources Director at Sure, said: “We truly want to help local charities where they need it, which is why we’re proud to have partnered with the Jersey Oxygen Therapy Centre to provide funding for this vital equipment. We’re proud to be able to provide time, funding, anything we can for these charities to be able to continue their incredible work in the community.”
Martin Osment, Acting Chief Officer and Trustee of the Jersey Oxygen Therapy Centre, expressed gratitude for the support: “Thank you to the Sure Community Foundation for promptly providing the funding for the AED and recognising the importance of effective medical care to the community. Before the new defibrillator was installed, the nearest alternative would take 10 minutes to reach us – well outside the response time needed.”
