The recently released shortlist for the Citywealth IFC Awards 2020 has seen the Channel Islands continue their previous strong performance at the ceremony, with a host of nominations for local firms and individuals while both Guernsey and Jersey are nominated as ‘IFC of the Year’.
Three Jersey firms have received recognition in the ‘Boutique Law Firm of the Year’ category, while the ‘Litigation Law Firm of the Year’ shortlist is entirely comprised of Channel Island-based firms and local lawyers have also dominated the ‘Lawyer of the Year – Litigation’ category.

Guernsey-based law firm Mourant has been shortlisted in four categories, including a personal nod to partner and litigation specialist, Jeremy Wessels (pictured). Global managing partner, Jonathan Rigby, said: “We have a longstanding reputation as a preeminent law firm in the Channel Islands and work tirelessly to promote and develop the Islands as leading international finance centres. So we are delighted to see Jersey and Guernsey recognised in this way by Citywealth and very proud to be shortlisted as Law Firm of the Year and Litigation Law Firm of the Year for both islands.”
A fairly recent addition to the industry, Guernsey-based Ferbrache & Farrell has also been shortlisted for two awards, including Litigation Firm of the Year. Managing partner, Alastair Hargreaves, said: “We are delighted to build on last year’s recognition as a finalist in Boutique Law Firm of the Year, with two shortlistings this year. It’s an honour to be recognised in two categories for our expertise and dedication just three years after our inception. It’s testament to the hard work put in by everyone in the firm.”
The winners of the Citywealth IFC Awards will be announced on Wednesday 29 January at the Rosewood Hotel in London.
