The team at Jersey Cheshire Home are challenging islanders to Step into Spring and clock up 40 miles to support people with disabilities.
The aim is to cover 40 miles between 20th March and 21st June and it is open to everyone, both individuals and teams who can cover the distance however they want – walking, running, cycling, rowing, swimming or even wheeling.
40 is the magic number this year with the Home celebrating its 40th birthday so entrants are asked to raise a minimum of £40, £1 for every mile.
Donna Abel (pictured), CEO Jersey Cheshire Home said: “We are really excited to be celebrating our 40th anniversary in 2023 and we hope islanders will Step into Spring with us and help us raise some much needed funds for Jersey Cheshire Home. The days are getting longer so Spring is the perfect time to get out and about and get some miles in whilst enjoying the great outdoors.”
Jersey Cheshire Home is the only residential facility on the island caring solely for adults with disabilities. It costs just over £3 million per year to run, just over £8,300 a day.
Islanders can sign up and prepare to get stepping here via the Jersey Cheshire Home website at where they’ll also find a fundraising page to share far and wide and there’s a medal up for grabs for everyone who completes the 40 miles.
