States of Guernsey launch 2021 community survey

The 2021 Community Survey has just been launched and is available here

The Survey asks about people’s wellbeing and household circumstances and how these have changed since 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic and all of the changes that have impacted our society as a result. It asks respondents to rate their life satisfaction at present and seeks to understand people’s feelings on some specific topics, including travelling and shopping. It also seeks to find out how people’s expenditure patterns have changed; information which will be used when the weights for the Retail Price Indices are updated at the end of this year. The results will be published before the end of the year.

The survey is open until Thursday 14th October 2021. It should take approximately 20 minutes to complete and is available in several different formats. Paper copies and further information are available on request via email dataandanlaysis@gov.gg or phone 01481 223435.

Helen Walton, Head of the States Data & Analysis Service said: “The 2020 survey helped us understand the areas of people’s lives that were most impacted by the first strict lockdown in the Bailiwick. The information was used to inform Public Health advice and Civil Contingencies Authority decisions relating to the second lockdown and has been published for future reference.”

“This survey seeks to help us understand what has remained different for people in the longer term and the reasons behind this, which can be very individual. So, I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to take part in the survey to ensure we get reliable results again. It is totally anonymous, shorter than the last one, so shouldn’t take long and can be done online or on paper.”
