Standard Bank has announced its continued sponsorship of the Brighter Futures Trinity Gardening Club, a project initiated by the registered Jersey Charity, Brighter Futures.
The sponsorship aligns with Standard Bank‘s commitment to supporting community initiatives and promoting environmental sustainability.
Brighter Futures, with its vision of ensuring all families in Jersey live safe, happy, and healthy lives, has chosen to focus on introducing green spaces to families in Jersey who may not have this opportunity in their immediate home environment. The Gardening Club is one of their initiatives aimed at achieving this vision.
The Brighter Futures Trinity Gardening Club, now in its third year and second supported by Standard Bank, aims to provide families with the opportunity to connect with nature and each other through various gardening activities. Participants will engage in weekly planting of vegetables and plants, bird feeding, den building, bug collecting, and other outdoor activities designed to foster bonding and appreciation for nature.
“We are thrilled to receive sponsorship from Standard Bank for our Trinity Gardening Club,” said Judith Hanson, Trusts, and Grants Manager from Brighter Futures. “Their support will allow us to continue providing a nurturing environment where families can connect with nature and each other, learn sustainable skills and ultimately contributing to their overall wellbeing and sense of community. Their support is vital to keeping this project going.”
Standard Bank has committed £5,000 to enable the 2024 project to run, which supports various aspects of the gardening club, including transportation for participants, provision of weekly picnics, and acquisition of necessary resources, plants, and equipment. Additionally, the sponsorship will cover staffing costs to ensure the safe and effective operation of the club.
Greg Barclay, Head of Business and Commercial Banking at Standard Bank Offshore, added: “We are delighted to support the Brighter Futures Trinity Gardening Club as it aligns with Standard Bank’s longstanding commitment to fostering growth and sustainability, particularly in Africa where we have deep roots, but also in the communities in which we operate. Our mission to drive Africa’s growth extends beyond borders, and it is gratifying to see that same synergy reflected in our support for local Jersey community initiatives like this impactful gardening club. I attended the club last year as a volunteer seeing first hand the transformative power of these projects, and we are proud to contribute to their success for another year.”
