More than 450 people went along to Jersey Hospice Care’s Candles on the Beach event on Saturday night – taking a moment to gather as a community in shared remembrance.
Together around 300 lanterns were lit, illuminating St Brelade’s Bay.
Anya Nightingale-Bataille, Events and Fundraising Assistant at Jersey Hospice Care, said: “It’s wonderful to be able to give back to the community and see everyone gathered together to honour and remember their loved ones. It looked beautiful and the feedback we got from people who attended was really touching and makes us proud of everything we do at Hospice.”
Jersey Hospice Care has received some lovely feedback on social media from people who attended, including from Patricia who said: “Huge thank you Jersey Hospice ‘Candles on the Beach’ it was a truly beautiful and emotional evening. The event was so well organized, the choir amazing.
“The event brought some many people together to celebrate the lives of their loved ones. I was deeply moved by the beautiful, serene atmosphere and the coming together of people who had all suffered personal loss. You could feel the love in the air. It was so comforting. Well done to all the staff at Jersey Hospice Care. You are all amazing people. Thank you so very much.”
Sue added: “It was a truly beautiful but emotional event for all of us who attended.”
