Guernsey Museum at Candie is hosting spy-themed activities from this Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.
There will be family films in the Frossard Room, things to make in the Discovery Room and ‘follow the clue’ trails around the Museum galleries. Fancy dress with the broad theme of ‘disguises’ is encouraged.
The Museum is open daily 10:00-16:00 and the films start at the following times:
- Friday 13:30 and 15:30
- Saturday 10:30, 12:15 and 14:00
- Sunday 10:30, 12:15 and 14:00
Visitors are welcome to just turn up for the films and there is no extra charge. To find out specific film titles, please call the Museum on 726518 or join the ‘Guernsey Museum Films’ group on Facebook.
The Spy Weekend is being held to raise awareness that the Candie Code Room Timewarp will finish on 31 December 2020. The Candie Code Room is inspired by Bletchley Park, the centre of Allied code-breaking during the Second World War. Visitors to Candie can pick up a secret message at reception and then use the unique Candie Enigma Machine to solve it. There are other codes from history too, including the ancient Scytale, Caesar’s Code, mirror writing and Hieroglyphics. The Timewarp for 2021 will be inspired by a Viking ship.
Normal admission applies to the Museum for the Spy Weekend, so Discovery Pass holders and accompanying
children go free.
