Residents and team members at Jersey Cheshire Home are preparing for a big night at the Opera!
The group of five will be starring alongside professional opera singers in their own rendition of The Marriage of Figaro at Jersey Cheshire Home.
They’ll be captivating audiences and impressing their friends and family with enchanting excerpts from the timeless Mozart masterpiece whilst helping to raise funds for refurbishment of three bedrooms at the Home in Rope Walk St Helier.
The group have been busy in rehearsals with local singing teacher and student Sue de Gruchy and Rebecca Arthur, who have been helping them to fine tune their vocals for this famous Comic Opera.
Donna Abel (pictured), CEO at Jersey Cheshire Home said: “The objective of this initiative is twofold, not only does it aim to raise essential funds for the Home, but it also provides meaningful opportunities for our residents and colleagues to train and take part in the performances.”
Mary O’Keeffe, co-founder of this initiative, expressed her excitement, stating: “We are thrilled to bring this unique opera experience to Jersey Cheshire Home. It goes beyond being a mere fundraiser; it’s a celebration of community, culture, and inclusivity. We extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, Highvern and Evelyn Partners, for making this vision a reality.”
Donna added: “Beyond the financial support, all involved are committed to cultivating a stronger sense of belonging and connection within the Home. This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission of enhancing lives of disabled islanders and of creating a sense of belonging for everyone at Jersey Cheshire Home. I cannot wait to see how our dining room will be adorned with the stage setting that will provide a spectacular backdrop for the performances. I am very excited about attending the Opera and getting dressed up, as are our residents.”
