Skipton has announced the 2022 Swimarathon ambassadors.
Guernsey’s Director of Public Health, Dr. Nicola Brink, GROW’s General Manager, Jess Aughton and the founder of Swim All Seasons, Min Henry, have been named as this year’s ambassadors for the Skipton Swimarathon, as they look to encourage islanders to make a splash for Guernsey’s largest fundraiser.
As a keen supporter of the Skipton Swimarathon over the years, Dr. Brink is looking forward to getting involved in the event once again. She said: “It is a huge honour and privilege to be asked to be an ambassador for the Skipton Swimarathon. Both my children participated in the Swimarathon when they were younger and over the years I have seen the event going from strength to strength, supporting charities at the very heart of island life. I am looking forward to working with my fellow ambassadors to promote this very worthwhile event.”
As the General Manager at GROW Limited, Jess Aughton is at the heart of the day to day running of this year’s main beneficiary. The Guernsey charity, which supports people with a learning disability, is looking to raise funds for the redevelopment of its Coutanchez site. Money raised at the event will contribute towards fitting out the training café, which will be open to the public on completion.
Min Henry has a strong passion for year-round sea swimming. In 2020, Min founded Guernsey Swim All Seasons – an open water swimming community that creates awareness of the mental and physical benefits that sea swimming can provide. Min said “The Skipton Swimarathon has always been synonymous with fundraising to support local charities and so I am honoured to be an ambassador for 2022 and look forward to being part of the Swimarathon family, where seniors are passing the fundraising baton on to our children, the future of the event.”
The Skipton Swimarathon is jointly organised by the Lions and Round Table, and will take place between 5 and 9 October, with registration opening to the public in June.
