ArtHouse Jersey has appointed Sir Stephen Dalton, the former Lieutenant-Governor of Jersey, as Chair of its board of trustees.
Sir Stephen (pictured) succeeds current Acting Chair, Gailina Liew, and is joined by the appointment of two additional trustees, Ashley Proudfoot and the Countess of Jersey.
ArtHouse Jersey Vice Chair, Gailina Liew, said: “We were very impressed by the quality of the candidates that came forward and are delighted to welcome Stephen, Ashley and Lady Jersey to our board. It has been a privilege to serve as Acting Chair following the sudden passing of Philip Hewat-Jaboor last year.
“My thanks go to fellow trustees and the entire team at ArtHouse Jersey who worked together to deliver an outstanding programme of events while also undergoing an intensive organisational development programme that has culminated in a strengthened team and the addition of three new trustees.”
ArtHouse Jersey Chair, Sir Stephen Dalton, said of being appointed: “I am delighted and excited to be joining the ArtHouse Jersey Board of Trustees and I look forward to helping this remarkable charity continue to promote and bring all elements of the arts to Islanders. It will be a tremendous privilege to help guide the delivery of opportunities for more Islanders both to have the chance to experience some world class exhibitions and
challenging art as well as to give those developing their specific skills the facilities to experiment and share their ideas and talents.
“Art really has the power to engage people from hugely different backgrounds and cultures and to help them to think through their personal challenges. Part of ArtHouse Jersey’s intent is also to help improve the well-being of Islanders and in so doing help them to be more productive in their daily lives and I am keen to do all that I can to help in this wonderful endeavour.”
