The Guernsey Scrutiny Management Committee is seeking expressions of interest from local residents wishing to be considered for membership of its Financial Scrutiny Panel.
This role will commence in September 2023 and continue until June 2025.
The Scrutiny Management Committee’s Financial Scrutiny Panel is a sub-committee consisting of elected States’ Deputies and members of the public, who provide advice to the panel. The Committee is looking to refresh the membership of this panel to assist in addressing the major financial challenges facing the government in the remainder of this political term.
The President of the Scrutiny Management Committee, Deputy Yvonne Burford (pictured), commented: “The work of this panel will focus principally on identifying potential opportunities for identifying efficiencies across the States of Guernsey by using the Member’s financial skills and commercial acumen to analyse the current financial information available, including the States of Guernsey Accounts and budget reports”
Whilst there are no formal qualifications required, significant relevant experience in financial, commercial, or legal matters, is highly desirable.
The time commitment is around 20 to 30 half-days per year, panel meetings are normally convened on a monthly basis.
There will also be opportunities for potential membership on short-term review projects focussing on specific financial topics.
