Sark Electricity Holdings Ltd has confirmed it was sold to Witney Price, for an undisclosed sum, with effect Tuesday 10 March.
The Gordon-Brown Family, who have run the business for 50 years, have decided to pass the mantle of power production on Sark to new hands following the recent passing of The Managing Director, Mr David Gordon-Brown.
Andrew Gordon-Brown, son and previous director of the company said: “It is with deep sadness that we have made this decision. The Island of Sark has been an important part of our lives for three generations and the decision to hand over the baton to Witney Price was not an easy one. However, we have known Alan Jackson (of Witney Price) for a number of years, and he has spent many of those encouraging SEL to push towards a greener energy future for Sark. His energy and passion for Sark, and its future, has given us the confidence to entrust him with our family’s legacy.”
Alan Jackson, speaking on behalf of Witney Price, said: “This is a transaction borne of many years of hard work and we are delighted to complete this transaction. Our commitment towards a green energy future for the beautiful Island of Sark is absolute and we are primed to break ground this year on green energy infrastructure if Chief Pleas gives us their blessing to do so.”
The Gordon-Brown family have asked that all communication on this transaction be handled by Witney Price. Andrew Gordon-Brown said” “We, as a family, are asking for time and space while we grieve the loss of my father.”
