A senior team from fund administrator Saltgate has walked almost 50km to raise money for the PATRIZIA School in Buyamba, Uganda.
Saltgate’s CEO Simon Riley, Head of Business Development Stuart Winter, and Head of IT Tim McBain flew from Jersey for the challenge – hiking from High Pike to Hart Crag in the Lake District, and climbing England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike, along the way.
Saltgate was the main sponsor of the PATRIZIA Lakes Challenge, hosted by the PATRIZIA Foundation – the charity branch of real estate investment manager, PATRIZIA.
The money raised from the challenge will go towards installing a rainwater collection system, refurbishing classrooms and dormitories, and building two outdoor classrooms.
The project means over 800 pupils in Uganda will get access to the education they need to thrive.
Simon Riley, Saltgate’s CEO, said: “Pushing ourselves physically for a cause that’s so important to Saltgate was incredibly rewarding.”
“The PATRIZIA Foundation improves the lives of so many people around the globe. At Saltgate, we have a strong focus on improving education, so this sort of challenge really aligns with our values.”
“I’m proud of the team, and it was great to join our friends and colleagues for the Lakes Challenge, and show our commitment to the PATRIZIA Foundation, and the work they’re doing in Uganda.”
Jowita Fuchshofer from the PATRIZIA Foundation said: “The PATRIZIA Lakes Challenge was a complete success. With the funds collected from donations and sponsoring, we as a foundation can extensively renovate our school in Buyamba, Uganda, and enormously improve the learning situation for the children. Volunteers from the ranks of PATRIZIA AG used their 1 % working time donation to tirelessly collect funds.”
“The event demonstrates the win-win situation of corporate volunteering: more support for the children and our projects, as well as a positive effect on corporate culture. A very special thanks goes to Saltgate, who, as the main sponsor, has been a supporter from the start and accompanied the volunteers during the challenge.”
The aims and ambitions behind this project align with Saltgate’s charitable focus – promoting education, learning and development. The PATRIZIA School Buyamba, Uganda project will be invaluable to building better futures and life-changing for the students.
