Five people are going to be tackling marathon distances in October to raise money for the Jersey Employment Trust and Acorn Enterprises.
Each day this week, Channel Eye is meeting one of the runners. Today we meet Nikki Fryer.
Nikki Fryer is Human Resources Partner at Jersey Post, which this year won one of our Outstanding Employer of the Year awards. Nikki, who has completed a round-Island walk, walks into work most days.
“I have done a half-marathon before and the odd 5k here and there, but haven’t run for a number of years. I’d like to run a bit of it and do it in a reasonable time. The Virtual London Marathon is going to be good to have something to work towards.”
Nikki is planning a route which will take her from her home in First Tower, along Victoria Avenue to St Aubin, up the Railway Walk to Corbiere, along the Five Mile Road and back.
“It’s much the same route that Beaulieu take on their school walk. My 15-year-old daughter has done it before so I will get her to accompany me, for a bit of company too.
“Jersey Post have a great relationship with JET and I have worked with them in previous roles too. They do an amazing job not only securing roles for people who have a disability or long-term health condition but also supporting them through their careers.”
