Rubis introduces special offer on 100% renewable diesel

Rubis RD100 vs Standard Diesel

In support of the Jersey Government’s Carbon Neutral Roadmap to put the island on a pathway to net zero emissions, Rubis is offering its 100% Renewable Diesel – RD100 at the same price as standard diesel, until the 30th of April at selected forecourts.

The aim for the promotion is to make the fuel more accessible for drivers to try renewable diesel. This move underlines the growing need and urgency – as well as Rubis’ commitment – to act on islands journey towards carbon neutrality.

An immediate solution to help the islanders drive down the carbon emissions caused by regular diesel engines, Rubis RD100 is a clear, odourless drop-in fuel and a direct replacement for regular diesel. It is refined from 100% renewable sources such as vegetable oils from rapeseed, sunflower and soybean, and waste fats such as animal fats or used cooking oil.

Rubis say that it has better combustion and cold temperature resistance meaning it is better for diesel vehicles, particularly in Jersey where journeys are short, and engines don’t reach full operating temperature.

Nick Crolla, Head of Sales & Marketing at Rubis Channel Islands said, “We all recognise the urgency to reduce carbon emissions globally, electric vehicles are one option but, for many, they are expensive, not in plentiful supply and may not be the best solution for driving long off-island distances. Rubis Renewable Diesel is an immediate solution for the transition which can make a difference today.

Rubis is leading hydrocarbon transition, supporting the government and community in their aim for carbon neutrality. At a local level, our 100% renewable diesel can improve air quality, with a significant reduction in smoke, particulates, NOx, and carbon monoxide. Then at a global level the carbon emissions during the lifecycle of the fuel are reduced by up to 90%, because the carbon being released in the atmosphere is offset by the carbon absorbed by plants in the production of the fuel, creating a virtuous global carbon cycle.”

Rubis Sion is the first jurisdiction in Britain and Europe to have Renewable Diesel widely available for passenger and commercial vehicles. Furthermore, Rubis is also the first distributor in Europe to provide 100% renewable heating oil (EcoHeat100).

Rubis is evolving as a business and is focussing on providing the most advanced products and solutions to aid the energy transition in the Channel Islands.
