Kings’ Head of Sports and Kids@Kings, Rob West, is heading to Las Vegas for an “amazing” opportunity to compete in the Seniors Padel World Championships.
The renowned Guernsey tennis player and recent padel convert helped Team GB to qualify for the World Championships last month alongside fellow Guernseyman and over-35s doubles partner Patrick Ogier.
Rob flies over to the States this week where he will compete against the very best players in the over-35 age group as part of Team GB.
Kings is sponsoring Rob to attend the event, which starts on 27th March and runs until 2nd April.
“I am excited to represent Team GB at a World Championships event, and very much looking forward to the experience and the challenge in such an amazing location for a tournament!” said Rob.
“I am very grateful for the support Kings have given that allows me to travel and compete. Go Team GB!”
Rob plays an important role at the heart of Kings Club – both on the Courts and off of them – heading up the Kids@Kings Department and inspiring youngsters to lead happy, healthy and active lifestyles.
Sean Mills, Kings Group Club Manager, said: “As our Head of Sports and Head of our Kids@Kings Department, Rob is an integral part of the Kings family. He invests so much of his time into supporting the next generation of islanders as they play, learn and discover new sports and activities at Kings.”
“We are therefore extremely proud of his achievements to date in qualifying for the World Seniors and are delighted to support his participation in Las Vegas.”
“We wish him, and Team GB, the very best in the World Championships. We know he will do Kings, and Guernsey, proud.”
The top 16 padel nations will compete against each other at the World Championships with final rankings from 1-16. The tournament is being live-streamed on the Federation of International Padel’s Youtube channel here.
