Rihoy & Son has celebrated its 100th anniversary with a Grand Gala Dinner at Footes Lane.
Over 450 long serving current and former staff, guests from across the industry and the island, and friends and family, came together to mark the milestone.
The evening featured dining, dancing, and a captivating magic show, alongside speeches by former Chairman Jeremy Rihoy, current Chairman Gavin Rihoy, and Managing Director Dan Taylor. Jeremy and Gavin, grandsons of the company’s founder, reflected on the company’s early years, its evolution through the decades under their father’s leadership, and recent accomplishments, including more than 20 years building with the Guernsey Housing Association and completion of Admiral Park for ComProp.
Dan Taylor focused on the company’s future vision and values. He highlighted the company’s long-standing support for local youth sport such as football, rugby, golf, bowls, and hockey. He also emphasised the work of The EJ Rihoy Charitable Trust, which has for the past 26 years contributed to building schools, orphanages, community centres, and maternity facilities within marginalised communities in Africa.
He concluded by stating: “Regardless of social and economic trends, we’re a business that puts importance in people, relationships and community. These connect the past and the future and will continue to be prioritised.”
