Resolution IT has revealed the winners of its 2025 Design Challenge, an annual competition that showcases the creativity and innovation of young students across Guernsey.
Now in its fourth year, the competition invites pupils from school years 3 to 6 to submit inventive design ideas, with this year’s brief focusing on wearable gadgets.
The 2025 competition saw record participation, with more than 400 entries submitted in Guernsey alone. Young inventors presented a wide array of imaginative concepts, including language-translating headphones, hover boots, sunglasses with the ability to see into the future, and even an extendable hand.
The judging panel faced the difficult task of selecting just five winners from the extensive pool of submissions. Resolution IT once again partnered with a local charity to further enrich the competition’s community impact. This year’s chosen partner was the Youth Commission for Guernsey and Alderney, whose recent ‘Bus Stop’ initiative – a mobile youth centre that brings services directly to young people – was supported by the firm. During the prize-giving ceremony, Youth Commission CEO Louise Leale addressed attendees, highlighting the organisation’s work, and accepted a Meta Quest VR Headset on behalf of the Commission, donated by Resolution IT for use aboard the Bus Stop.

The competition’s success was made possible through the generous support of numerous sponsors. PlainSail returned as headline sponsor, with additional backing from Fort, Clicksmith, Spring Insure, LTS Tax, NSM, Aladdin’s Cave, and Blue Islands, who provided prizes for winners across both Guernsey and Jersey.
The Guernsey winners of the 2025 Resolution IT Design Challenge are:

Competition co-founders, Tove Barnes and Joe Wilkinson, said: “Thank you so much to all the participating students and schools. It’s amazing to have such a widespread uptake of this competition, that started out as a bit of a passion project for us! The creativity on display never fails to amaze us.”
They continued: “Our sincere thanks to Youth Commission for partnering with us on this, as well as to our generous competition sponsors for their support.”
