Following the establishment of a licensed trust company in Singapore as part of the acquisition of Deutsche Bank Global Trust Solutions, Butterfield has appointed Brian Balleine as its new Regional Head to drive their business growth in the Asia region.

Mr. Balleine, previously managing director of Butterfield Trust in the Cayman Islands, brings over 30 years’ experience in the field of international trust and fiduciary services, and has worked extensively with ultra-high net worth families and their advisers to enable complex wealth planning solutions.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of heading up our office in Singapore and drive Butterfield’s business development and growth in Asia. Having spent the last 20 years leading and managing trust businesses in Asia, Europe and the Caribbean, I’m experienced in working with these markets and will be able to apply the knowledge I have built to our clients’ wide-ranging fiduciary needs,“ he said.

Butterfield Trust’s Singapore office is the seventh in its internation network. The Deutsche Bank team has now successfully integrated into Butterfield’s Singapore office and further strengthens the expertise in the new office.

Nick Harwood, Director, Client Services, joins the Singapore office with 30 years’ experience in the trust industry, and in wealth planning. He had previously led Deutsche Bank’s trust team in Singapore. With 15 years’ experience in the Singapore trust industry, Yang Ping Tang, also from Deutsche Bank, joins as Vice President, Client Services. Yang Ping will draw on her extensive experience to manage the office’s client service delivery.

Joining the Singapore office from Butterfield Trust in Guernsey, Hannah Bisson, Manager, Trust Services, brings over 10 years’ experience on a wide range of complex and individually tailored, fiduciary, corporate and institutional structures.

Bob Moore, Executive Vice President and Head of Group Trust, said, ”Our Singapore office provides us with a platform from which we can expand our reach to clients across Asia, a region we know well, with some relationships spanning over 30 years. With his knowledge of the wider Butterfield Group and of clients in the Asia region, Brian is the ideal person to lead our Singapore office, with the aim of developing new business across Asia. With the additional support of Nick, Yang-Ping and Hannah, Butterfield is well positioned to support our clients In Asia; existing and new.’
