For the global conservation teams at Durrell, data doesn’t just represent knowledge. It can mean the difference between life and death, survival or extinction for the many species and habitats around the world that they are working hard to protect.
Prosperity 24/7 were delighted to be selected to work closely with Durrell to implement systems that would connect their international teams in remote locations to securely capture, store and share critical data and enable quick and efficient monitoring and reporting.
“We can now capture and share information faster, meaning we can act faster and learn more about the endangered species and habitats we protect.”
Dr Lesley Dickie, CEO of Durrell commented on the benefits that Durrell are seeing from the new technology: “Prosperity 24/7 worked with us to introduce technology that would connect us all. It works in some of the remotest places on the planet to allow us to overcome some of the challenges that affect our work. We can now capture and share information faster meaning we can act faster and learn more about the endangered species and habitats we protect.”
“The introduction of this technology will help us achieve our ambitious Rewild Our World strategy, which of course relies on rigorous monitoring and evaluation. Using the Microsoft Office 365 platform, the new solution provides applications that collect data even when there’s no connection, secure cloud storage which is accessible anywhere and dynamic dashboards which monitor and report on the data to allow quick and easier analysis.”
The project itself involved several stages to undertake a comprehensive review of the existing technology used and the migration of critical services to the new platform to ensure both accessibility and security of the all important data assets. Also delivering a comprehensive programme of learning and engagement across the organisation to enable colleagues across Durrell to reap the benefits of the solution.
For Prosperity 24/7, going the extra mile for such an important organisation that Jersey is lucky enough to have headquartered in the island felt like a real privilege. Geraldine Evans, Chief Learning and Engagement Officer commented on the project: “Our colleagues wanted to ensure that the investment Durrell was making to digitally transform the organisation provided not only an accessible ecosystem of technology, but most importantly, positively impacted their sustainable skills to empower every colleague in every part of the world where Durrell are located, to derive rich insights, immediately, no matter where they were undertaking critical activities.”
Working with the Observatory to produce a short case study film, Prosperity 24/7 wanted to not only showcase the solution they delivered, but also demonstrate how Durrell have embraced the technology, applied their scientific minds to run with it and drive effectiveness and efficiency.
