Throughout the month, employees of PraxisIFM in Guernsey signed-up to take part in the Group’s coronavirus fundraising initiative, #GivingOneHour.
Employees were given the option to donate the final hour of their month’s pay to two local charities, and as a result were able to raise a total of £4,644.
PraxisIFM’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team launched the appeal to provide financial support to island charities which are facing a surge in demand for their services, at a time when they are experiencing significant shortfalls in funding.
Following a staff vote and with guidance from The Association of Guernsey Charities, the two charities that will benefit from donations will be the Guernsey Welfare Service, a charity which works with a variety of people who find themselves in financial need and Age Concern, which provides support and for older members of the community. Each charity will receive 50% of total funds raised.
Janine Lewis, CSR team member and Director of Praxis Fund Services in Guernsey said: “We are extremely grateful for the generosity of our employees at this difficult time. Many members of the community are experiencing hardship and are in need of support now more than ever from our amazing local charities. It was very important to us that we play our part in assisting them to continue their irreplaceable work and support the island’s community.”
