Just over £25,000 was distributed recently among the four designated local charities who are currently being supported by Ports of Jersey. Representatives from the charities attended a private reception at Jersey Airport

during which time they each received a cheque presented by Group CEO for the company, Doug Bannister.

Monies were raised by staff in various ways throughout 2017, including raffles, auctions and bake sales as well as teams participating in a number of fund-raising events, either organised by the charities or raising funds on their behalf.

Doug Bannister says, “As part of our CSR commitment we are proud to be lending our continuing support in 2018 to these four worthwhile causes.

Since the charities were first selected in 2016 we have developed a special relationship with each of them and have continuing admiration for what they do in and among the local community. It is especially pleasing that, having chosen the charities themselves, our staff remain fully committed to supporting their efforts.”

The four charities are:

Jersey Children’s Charity:

Provides support for local families who need to travel to the UK for their child’s medical treatment as well as buying life-saving equipment. The charity works closely with Friends of SCBU

 Jersey Cancer Relief:

Provides financial assistance to local cancer patients and their families

Holidays 4 Heroes Jersey:

Provides free holidays in the island for members and past members of the armed forces injured during active service

Phillip’s Footprints:

Supports bereaved families and parents of babies as well as providing multi-disciplinary   training to midwives and doctors in caring for those at risk of premature birth and stillbirth
