Jersey-based HLG Associates and Guernsey’s Lindum Consult are joining forces to create a pan-Channel Islands provider of quantity surveying, project management, environmental, health and safety and construction advisory services. The move not only expands the reach and capabilities of both companies, but also creates several new job opportunities for surveyors and project managers.
Specialising in advisory services to public and private sectors, HLG has worked with a range of Jersey and UK-based clients since 2010. Among recent commissions are leading the redevelopment of old St Martin’s School and acting as advisor on the multi-million-pound Palace of Westminster restoration and renewal project.
Lindum Consult has provided quantity surveyor and construction consultancy services in Guernsey since 2009, working with clients including a prominent seafront property for the Fuller Group and a £1.5 million waste sorting facility for the Guernsey Recycling Group. Lindum’s founder, Andrew Morley (shown in main picture), has experience in the island stretching back even further, having worked in the local construction industry for more than 25 years.
Commenting on the merger, Andrew, who will continue as managing director in Guernsey, said: “The benefits of bringing together Lindum and HLG presents a real opportunity to support clients in both islands that are seeking professional advice and strong support with decision-making on their construction and infrastructure projects. I’m delighted to announce the alliance with HLG, and particularly excited to be able to offer more high-quality support to Lindum’s existing clients.”
Andrew will be supported by HLG’s Jerry Willis, who takes on the role of director for the company’s Guernsey-based arm. Commenting on the merger and similarities that exist across both islands, Jerry added:
“There’s been a lot of talk politically and within the industry that both islands should be collaborating more and working closer together. HLG is now able to contribute to this debate, and to share our experience with clients and associates in both islands. Utilising our knowledge as a platform for connecting opportunities, we’ll be able to deliver real benefits and realise efficiencies on those projects we’re appointed to advise on.”
The newly merged company plans to continue offering the same high levels of specialist support and consultancy advisory services on its construction and infrastructure projects. Lindum is looking forward to serving its clients with the full range of HLG’s service-offering. In addition to quantity surveying and project management services, these include employer’s agent, commercial advisory, environmental services, green technology and health and safety project co-ordinator (HSPC) services.
HLG will continue to trade in Guernsey as Lindum for the foreseeable future. As a result of the merger, however, Lindum is already promoting employment opportunities to support its business. The company is planning to recruit a full-time project manager and a quantity surveyor to be based in Guernsey. Andrew wants to meet potential new faces and speak with those interested in furthering their career as a part of HLG Associates.
