Saffery Champness is now accepting applications for its first Summer Internship Programme.
The private client firm will be awarding placements to four students for a four-week paid internship from 31 July to 25 August 2023. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to learn from each team in the business, allowing them to see the role each department has in delivering a tier one client service.
The firm – which opened in Guernsey in 1977 – offers a wide range of services including digital assets and cryptocurrency, wealth structuring for non-standard assets such as antiques, art and aircraft, family office services, trust and succession planning, tax services, responsible investments, and philanthropy.
Alongside experience in corporate trustee teams, the placement will also include spending time with the People & Culture, Marketing, Compliance and Accounts teams.
Interns will also have the opportunity to find out how the Guernsey office works in collaboration with the firm’s Cayman, Dubai and Switzerland offices.
Managing Director, Nick Batiste (pictured), said the placement was a unique opportunity: “Having started at Saffery Champness aged 17, I have the benefit of hindsight in knowing just how valuable it is to have access to so many teams delivering a broad range of services in one place. I am delighted to be able to offer the same opportunity to students who are interested in learning more about private client service. Perhaps a future Managing Director will be among them.”
Saffery Guernsey employs over eighty staff and is listed as a ‘tier one’ firm in ePrivateClient’s ranking of Top Independent Trust Companies.
Mr Batiste added: “Our distinctive independent structure allows us complete autonomy over what services we provide, the clients we onboard and which intermediaries we work with. As a result, we have developed expertise in emerging areas including working with clients holding digital assets and cryptocurrencies and clients using their wealth to reduce the impacts of climate change.
“Students on the summer internship placement will learn how we work in partnership with a global network of specialists to ensure our clients have access to professionals at the forefront of their respective industries.”
Over the course of the placement, students will be in pairs as they spend time with each team in the business and will have the opportunity to learn from Saffery’s friendly, experienced team members at different stages of their careers, who can all offer unique perspectives of their career path in their chosen role.
Students are asked to register their interest in the summer internship programme by contacting the People and Culture team by email or by calling 01481 721374.
The placement is open to any student over the age of 16. Enquiries must be made by 23 June 2023.
