Obsidian Fund Services’ launch brings a new approach to fund administration in Guernsey as Jody Newark and her team establish a new independent locally owned fund administration business.
Obtaining regulatory approval from the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC) last month, Obsidian launches with a clarity of purpose and a clear mission – to make fund administration in Guernsey synonymous with service and sustainability.
Obsidian seeks to set a new benchmark for quality in the Guernsey market by combining bespoke client service; innovation in delivery; and an evolved approach using the latest technology and practices. Obsidian’s incorporation of sustainability at ground zero provides environmental, social and governance reporting and monitoring solutions that can naturally evolve with clients.
At Obsidian’s helm is CEO, Jody Newark, whose experience spans 20 years in the funds industry. Not being one to sit on her laurels, Jody holds several professional investment charters in support of her operational expertise. Jody exemplifies commitment achieving all this, while raising a family of three. Incredible.
Explaining her rationale for bringing Obsidian to the market, Jody told Channel Eye: “After twenty years in the industry I took a frank look around and was not happy with the commitment to service and quality generally across the sector. Obsidian is my response, created to meet a market need for boutique, high quality administration services specifically catering to sophisticated global clients, specialist managers, and family offices”.
