This year marks the tenth anniversary for nine colleagues at the Medical Specialist Group, three of whom are partners.
Sue Rushton, Annie Inderwick, Tom Fysh, Angela Gibson, Kat de le Mare, Mike Blundell, Michelle Oland and Kelly Dunning and Yaroslav Stefak have all been recognised for their 10 years of service and awarded with flowers, chocolates and wine.
Kat De Le Mare, orthopaedic PA, said: “I started at the MSG when I was 19 and was the baby of the company for a good while. I’ve recently returned to work after having a baby and the 10-year work anniversary serves as a reminder of my growth and change personally.
“Working with my lovely, accommodating and understanding colleagues (many of whom I have known for years) has made returning to work following my maternity leave easier.”
Consultant ophthalmologist Mr Mike Blundell said: “The MSG has been a wonderful place to work and an incredible group of people to work with. There are always challenges in delivering healthcare but I cannot think of a group of people with whom I’d rather face those challenges.
“Over the last 10 years I have had incredible opportunities to develop on a personal level: I’ve become a partner in the business, led on service development, on the ethics committee, I’ve sat on the MSG Management Board and worked as head of department for ophthalmology. I’ve seen the business develop, grow, purchase its own premises and support the population of Guernsey through a time of global pandemic.
“It’s been a privilege to work here and I’m looking forward to the challenges the next 10 years will bring.”
“I cannot believe I have been at the MSG for 10 years – time flies when you are having fun (and working hard)!” said Kelly Dunning, senior PA for paediatrics, women & child health.
“I could not have done it without the support of my colleagues, some of whom are now friends, and working in a great team certainly helps. I have achieved a lot in my 10 years at the MSG which was recently recognised with a promotion. I am excited to see what the next 10 years have in store for me.”
Consultant surgeon Mr Tom Fysh said: “I wasn’t sure what to expect when I joined the MSG 10 years ago. It was a big step to leave the security of a career in the NHS but I have never looked back. The MSG has grown and developed enormously in that time and continues to nurture a real sense of belonging and pride, which I think is so unusual working in healthcare today.”
MSG chair Dr Steve Evans commented: “We are very fortunate to have such fantastic colleagues at the MSG who put the needs of our patients first.
“It has been a pleasure to watch these colleagues develop professionally and personally over the last decade, and I’m sure they will continue to support us to improve the health of our community for many more years to come.”
