FlyDirect have announced that direct flights from Jersey to Tenerife will be repeated this coming winter, and a brand new destination for winter sunshine will also be added.
The company announced there will be five direct departures to the smaller Canary Island of Lanzarote.
Flights will operate on a Friday with departures to Arrecife airport departing weekly from the 25th October to the 22nd November, returning 29th November.
The Tenerife programme will once again incorporate the popular Christmas and New Year period with departures on 20th and 27th December, and then operate weekly from 7th February through until 18th April, with the last inbound flight on the 25th April.
Commenting on the latest announcement, Rebecca Larsson, Marketing & Development Manager of FlyDirect’s parent company, C. I. Travel Group said: “We have enjoyed another successful series of flights to Tenerife this year and are delighted to not only repeat the programme, but also add an exciting new destination for October half-term and November sunshine getaways.”
Matt Thomas, CEO at Ports of Jersey, said: “This new route to Lanzarote is great news for Islanders. The growth of scheduled services to European destinations is a key strategic priority, not just for Ports of Jersey, but also for our wider partners and stakeholders. We are aiming to increase passenger numbers by 40% over the next five years, by building more year-round connectivity to the UK and by growing a network of sustainable routes into Europe.
“This new route takes the total of our European destinations in 2024 to sixteen, including Munich, Dusseldorf, Zurich, Geneva, Rotterdam and Grenoble, as well as direct services for islanders to Tenerife, Ibiza, Faro, Majorca, Malaga, Split and Madeira.
“I hope all Island stakeholders will come together to build awareness of Jersey in new markets and to expand our European connectivity.”
