The Cobo Bay Balcony Gigs will continue for three more summers after new sponsors were secured.
The popular events, which see visiting tribute acts and local bands entertain thousands of people on the road in front of the Cobo Bay Hotel as well as on the beach, will now be sponsored by Ravenscroft, who have been supporting sponsor for a number of years, Ravenscroft Construction, Pula Limited and Randall’s.
“The balcony gigs are one of the highlights of Guernsey’s summer and we have tourists booking their holidays and locals booking tables many months in advance. I am so grateful to Ravenscroft, Ravenscroft Construction, Pula and Randall’s for coming together to ensure the balcony gigs can continue as without their support, it wouldn’t have been possible,” said organiser David Nussbaumer.
“We already had a great line up of bands planned for 2024, which includes a gig on Liberation Day for the first time, so I am really excited that we can go ahead this year and start making plans for 2025 and 2026.
“There is something for everyone, no matter what their music tastes. The road will be closed every afternoon to allow people to listen to the music and enjoy drinks in the sunshine and we know that the beach will be packed with families and young people.
“As always, we will be asking everyone to enjoy the balcony gigs responsibly and to put rubbish in the many bins provided and our thanks to Island Waste for working overtime to clean the road once the music has finished. Ravenscroft, Ravenscroft Construction, Pula and Randall’s are arranging some banners and bunting to add to the atmosphere and this will include a banner on the Rockmount which reminds everyone to take their rubbish and leave it behind.”
