Norman Piette has appointed a new Executive Manager to the builders’ merchant sales department. Simon Taylor has joined the business to lead the sales team at a very exciting time in the company’s development.
Simon has a good knowledge of timber products having joined the timber trade in 1990 after a spell in the Royal Navy. He began his career as a lorry driver for a timber merchant in Bristol, but soon moved into sales and became a timber sales representative and product manager.
He worked as branch manager at a timber merchant in Bristol before moving on to manage an engineered timber company that designed and manufactured joists, trusses and timber frames houses.
Simon has worked for many well-known brands in the UK timber industry such as Robbins Timber, James Latham, Timbmet & Premier Forest Products.
He moved to Guernsey to take up his post at Norman Piette in February this year.
“Guernsey was a very attractive proposition for me,” said Simon, “The opportunity to move to a beautiful island with my wife, make new friends, take up new hobbies and work with Norman Piette was impossible to turn down.
“I love the fact that Norman Piette is a family business with a fantastic history and reputation both here and on the mainland. I come from a timber background so it’s also exciting to learn about new products and expand my skill set. I’m really looking forward to working with the team to help drive the business forward.”
Paul Rogers, CEO of the NP Group, says Simon is an excellent addition to the team:
“Simon has an excellent track record, lots of experience and knowledge that will be a real advantage to us as we enhance and diversify our product range. We welcome Simon to the team where we are sure he will use his wide skillset to introduce us to new ideas which will take our Sales focus to a new level.”
