Matalan, one of the largest clothing and homeware retailers in the UK, opens a new franchise store in St Helier’s Liberty Wharf retail centre today.
The new store will be operated by SandpiperCI who announced they had secured agreement to open franchised Matalan shops in both Jersey and Guernsey late last year.
Matalan is an award-winning British retailer synonymous with women’s and men’s fashion, children’s clothes and homeware at value prices . The organisation operates more than 200 stores across the UK and more than 40 franchise stores in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
Clair Sequeira, Sandpiper’s Brand Director said: “We’re delighted to be opening a Matalan store right in the heart of our Liberty Wharf ‘shop and dine’ complex. The Jersey Matalan store will offer an extensive range of style, quality and value clothing as well as some brilliantly priced home products.
“More importantly, the Matalan store will be a positive and welcome arrival in the current difficult retail climate. The stores will occupy four units in Liberty Wharf and create more than 15 new job roles.”
Matalan Jersey will open its doors at 9am on Monday 15th March and will be open seven days a week, Monday to Saturday 9am – 5pm and 10am – 5pm on Sundays.
Matalan’s Guernsey shop is planned to open at the end of March/beginning of April.
