Guernsey’s Economic Development department has announced that Jo Stoddart will be the new Director of Locate Guernsey.
Confirmation of her appointment comes a week before Locate Guernsey’s annual showcase event in London – which looks set to be the most successful yet.
Jo will be supported in the new Locate Guernsey team by a new no.2 – Paul Kilminster.
Jo Stoddart commented:
“This is a very exciting time to be joining Locate Guernsey. The showcase has had a tremendous response from business, advisers and potential relocators, and demonstrates that Guernsey’s offer is a compelling one.
“The Committee for Economic Development has backed Locate Guernsey by investing in its future, and I look forward to working with colleagues on and off-island to promote Guernsey as a premier league jurisdiction for high net worth individuals and scale-up businesses.
“I’m also delighted that Paul is joining the team. I have worked with him in his most recent role in the States, and I know that many businesses have valued his can-do approach and strong Guernsey connections.”
Almost 200 people will be at the Leadenhall building on Thursday 11 October for the London Showcase, Locate Guernsey’s main event of the year. The attendees at the event will be primarily London-based advisors to people considering moving home, but potential relocators themselves will also be at the Showcase.
Jo joins from Quintessential Relocations, a successful Guernsey-based Channel Islands business that she has built, and brings very strong commercial credentials. She will retain an arm’s length financial interest in Quintessential but will not play an active role, and appropriate contractual checks and balances have been put in place.
Paul was previously Administrator of the Population Management Office, winning plaudits from many businesses for helping to put in place a flexible and open-for-business approachwith the team there. Prior to that he enjoyed a long career in Guernsey’s banking sector.
Deputy Charles Parkinson, the President of Guernsey’s Committee for Economic Development, said:
“The Committee is delighted with the energy, expertise and connections of our new Locate Guernsey team, and it is great news that they will be formally unveiled at the Showcase event.
“I am looking forward to attending and meeting the attendees and demonstrating how Guernsey is a fantastic place to be in business and to live.
“The Committee has invested in the Locate Guernsey offering because we are absolutely committed to being open for business in Guernsey.”
