Rebecca Booth has been appointed as the new Chair of the Sustainable Finance Guernsey Council.
The Sustainable Finance Guernsey Council, previously known as the Guernsey Green Finance Group, was launched in 2018 as Guernsey’s dedicated sustainable finance initiative. Guernsey is strongly committed to the sustainable finance agenda as a member of United Nation’s Financial Centres for Sustainability Global Network, the Network for Greening the Financial System and the UN’s Sustainable Insurance Forum.
Rebecca (pictured) has accrued more than 20 years’ experience in the investment funds sector and is a Chartered Governance Professional. She has been a member of The Sustainable Finance Guernsey Council for more than five years and is actively involved in the local financial services industry.
Rebecca commented: “I am looking forward to bringing my experience and energy to build on the achievements of the Sustainable Finance Guernsey Council so far, working with the expert Council members and Stephanie Glover and her team, to further Guernsey’s finance sector position as an innovator for sustainable finance.
“I am very excited that we have already started discussions to implement a strategy which will see collaborations both locally and internationally to strengthen Guernsey’s ranking for sustainable finance on the international stage.”
Rebecca holds a Master of Science in Corporate Governance and a Sustainability Business Management Qualification from the University of Cambridge. She is also a Member of the Institute of Directors, a Member of the Chamber of Commerce Sustainable Business Initiative, a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute (FCG) and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufacturing and Commerce (FRSA).
Stephanie Glover, Strategy and Sustainable Finance Director for Guernsey Finance, highlighted Rebecca’s innovative thinking and expertise in the design and implementation of governance frameworks: “It is vital that we continue Guernsey’s sustainable finance journey, guided by globally agreed goals of mitigating the effects of climate change, alongside industry experts.
“Rebecca has been involved in many of Guernsey’s achievements in sustainable finance so far. Her ability to focus on details while also seeing the larger picture, as well as her specific expertise in building climate risk and opportunities into corporate governance, will help us to maintain our position as a global leader in sustainable finance.”
