Rhona Humphreys has been elected as the new Chair of the Guernsey Association of Trustees (GAT).
GAT is the industry representative body for fiduciary licence holders in the Bailiwick of Guernsey and represents more than 100 corporate and individual members. The membership of GAT predominantly consists of Trust and Company service providers however also extends to lawyers, accountants, compliance professionals and other individuals with an interest in the fiduciary industry. GAT has a proactive Technical Committee, holds regular industry events and delivers a monthly newsletter to keep its members updated.
Holding the dual role of Operations Director and Compliance Director at Imperium Trust Company in Guernsey, Rhona joined the committee of GAT in 2010 and previously served as both Deputy Chair and Secretary. She has taken on the role of Chair from Paul Hodgson, Deputy Group Head of Trust at Butterfield Group and Deputy Chair of the Guernsey International Business Association. “Paul has done a superb job as GAT chair, leaving some big shoes to fill” Rhona said.
“Having been involved with GAT for over a decade and to now be appointed as Chair will be a challenge and real privilege that I am looking forward to taking on. I am grateful to have an excellent committee to support me and am appreciative of the level of work that goes into these voluntary roles”.
“The finance industry is ever evolving, however in recent years we have seen an unprecedented increase in regulations and processes affecting the trust sector. I plan to continue building on GAT’s work, keeping abreast of challenges faced by our sector, and considering what can be done to ensure it remains protected”.
Rhona brings with her 25 years’ experience in the Guernsey fiduciary sector. She is a member of STEP and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
