The new Five Oaks Trade Park brings together a retail food store, self-storage facility and light industrial unit.
A new multi-purpose trade park has opened at Five Oaks, offering a Co-operative food store, large Le Gallais self-storage facility and a 10,300 sq ft light industrial unit.
Sitting on the former Jersey Evening Post site, the trade park has been purchased and developed by Le Gallais Real Estates. The company will bring together its £12 million investment in the site with its second self-storage facility, operating alongside the existing facility in the centre of St. Helier.
The Trade Park’s design has made use of high quality, efficient construction materials, with inspiration drawn from similar cutting edge developments across Europe. Sustainability and community have been key considerations throughout, with one of the Channel Islands’ largest solar power installations being installed alongside electric vehicle charging points, improved pedestrian access and safety, and enhanced landscaping that will integrate with the surrounding rural area.
The food store, self-storage facility and industrial units are all expected to generate immediate interest, meeting recognised demand in the local Five Oaks area and more widely across the island. The regeneration of the site has created approximately 30 jobs and will provide a diverse range of facilities for the benefit of both businesses and residents.
Le Gallais’ outlook for the site reflects its wider objectives as a multi-faceted real estate business. As one of the oldest companies in Jersey, Le Gallais will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2025 and plans to continue investing in sustainable, community-focused developments in Jersey and the UK. Commenting on the Five Oaks site’s opening, Managing Director Tim Le Gallais said: “We’re delighted to be opening the new Five Oaks site. The facilities will provide a significant boost to the local area as well as expanding the self-storage services and retail options for the wider community. We’ve seen a clear increase in storage demand during recent years and are confident that a new out-of-town option will be hugely popular with our customers looking for short or long-term space.
“It’s a testament to our team and our design and construction partners that the site has been completed on time and with paramount consideration for the surrounding area and environment. This approach is at the centre of our real estate business and will continue to be vitally important as we look to the future.”
