After a busy seven years working with the Medical Specialist Group, consultant paediatrician Clare Betteridge will be moving on to work with underprivileged children in South Africa.
Clare joined the MSG in 2017 from the Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust in Surrey, and since then has supported hundreds of children in their treatment and recovery from mild to acute diseases.
She has also led Taste of Medicine course for a number of years, offering students insight into what a career in medicine is like and what steps they need to take to build a career in the profession.
Dr Clare Betteridge said: “I have loved my time working in Guernsey and have built lovely and fulfilling relationships with a lot of families. One thing I will really miss is seeing the children that I have looked after growing up.
“I have been lucky enough to see so many families in Guernsey and I love bumping into them with my own son.
“I have decided to take my skills to South Africa to work with underprivileged children who really need the care that I can provide. I will miss Guernsey and all my patients though and wish them all the best for the future.
MSG Chairman Steve Evans said: “When Clare joined in 2017, we knew she would be a fantastic addition to our team and would have a significant positive impact on her paediatric patients.
“Over the years, we have seen so many children receive second-to-none care and treatment with Clare’s support and guidance. We wish her the best of luck in South Africa, where she undoubtedly will continue to provide the highest standard of care for her new patients.”
