After over two decades of caring for women in Guernsey, Medical Specialist Group consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Mr Carl Jensen is retiring.
Carl undertook his medical training in South Africa where he was born and raised before moving to the UK in 1991. He joined the Medical Specialist Group (MSG) in 2003 following a consultancy post at University Hospital Lewisham in 1998, bringing with him extensive knowledge and expertise in treating and diagnosing women’s health issues and caring for women during pregnancy and childbirth.
Carl said: “I have really enjoyed the last 21 years working as a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the MSG. It has been a great privilege living and working in Guernsey and I will miss my colleagues, both at the MSG and Health & Social Care. I would also particularly like to acknowledge the incredible support that I have received from my patients over the years. Guernsey has a fantastic community spirit and I am looking forward to staying connected with the community in my retirement.
“I plan to remain on island and take on a new role of Constable for St Pierre Du Bois parish – a challenge that I am looking forward to. I am also a keen gardener and look forward to spending more time in my garden, on my boat and, of course, with my family.”
MSG Chair Dr Steve Evans said: “We are very grateful to Carl for his many years of service to the MSG. Not only has he been a great colleague, but he has been a fantastic doctor to his patients and he will be greatly missed by everyone. We wish him all the best for his well-deserved retirement.”
