At the incredible age of 106 years old, Hilda Trimbee is officially the Medical Specialist Group’s oldest patient.
Mrs Trimbee was first seen at the MSG in 2008 when she was 91 years old. She has been under the care of Mr Carl Jensen, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist since then and cannot speak highly enough of him. She said: “Mr Jensen has been so kind; I wouldn’t go to another soul. I’m never in pain when he treats me and my quality of life has been just right since I’ve been with him. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The nursing care has also been absolutely bang on, they can’t do enough for you.”
Mrs Trimbee, who is originally from the UK, moved to Guernsey after her son moved here and persuaded her to join him as he didn’t want her living alone. For over 25 years Mrs Trimbee ran a guesthouse locally, taking in people in need of lodgings when no one else would accept them, and has two gentleman staying with her now. Mrs Trimbee says she looks after them, and in return they take her to her appointments.
Reflecting on the years of caring for Mrs Trimbee, Mr Jensen said: “‘I see Mrs Trimbee every three months and we have a great chat every time. I genuinely look forward to these appointments.”
