Three employees from leading offshore law firm, Mourant, beat off competition from ten other teams to win the 2019 Super League Corporate Enduro this weekend.
The Mourant team (Mourant Mix 1 – Alex Skudder, Eleanor Mulligan and Mourant LP Partner, Jon Woolrich) were competing against teams of three and six, including teams with semi-professionals in the exciting tri-relay, now in its third year.
As well as winning first place overall, and in the employees-only category, the firm’s second team (Mourant Mix 2) also placed second in the employee-only category, bringing home a hat trick of awards from the international event.
Mourant Jersey Managing Partner, Jersey, Dan Birtwistle said: “It’s been such an incredible day for our teams, who’ve shown how determination and team spirit can win even against the odds. With sub optimal weather conditions and semi-professional athletes on their heels for most of the race, they did fantastically well tackling the course as a team and encouraging one another to race hard and have fun. It’s a really proud moment for us!”
Winning team member, Jon Woolrich, who competed in two bike legs of the relay race, said: “It was tough, but great fun and we had a really good team. Ellie had a great couple of swim laps and Alex was fantastic on the run. All round, we’re really happy to win!”
Mourant is a supporting partner of the Super League Triathlon event which puts a unique spotlight on Jersey, bringing around 50 professional athletes from around the world to compete in a series of quick and exciting race formats.
The Corporate Team Enduro race takes place on the first day of the two-day event in the Elizabeth Marina and Quayside area in Jersey, and is open to corporate teams of three or six people, competing in a relay of each of the three triathlon sports: swim, bike, run.
