Mourant is the first law firm to enrol on ESI Monitor’s Environmental Business Operations Award scheme. With offices in BVI, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Jersey and London, Mourant say they recognise the different challenges facing businesses wanting to improve their environmental footprint.
Founded in Guernsey, ESI Monitor is also helping businesses achieve environmental and social sustainability. As a multi-jurisdictional offshore legal and governance services firm, Mourant will be aiming to meet the objectives across all of its offices to improve the communities in which our employees live and work.
Guernsey Partner, and member of the Mourant ‘Green Team’, John Rochester (pictured) said: “As an environmentally conscious firm it made perfect sense for Mourant to sign up to the ESI Monitor so we can demonstrate our commitment while leading way so hopefully others will follow.
“We already have a ‘green ethos’ across our jurisdictions which include some of the most beautiful places in the world. We try and keep them that way by attending community beach cleans and by encouraging our employees to try a more active commute. We look forward to working our way through the accreditation process so that we can proudly confirm Mourant’s environmental credentials.”
Accreditation by the ESI Environmental Business Operations Award scheme is a five-step process demonstrating a firm’s understanding of, and committing to reducing, its impact on the environment.
ESI Managing Director, Marc Laine said: “In committing to meet our benchmarked environmental standard, Mourant is setting a great example to the legal profession. Working to our standard will minimise the Mourant operational impact on the environment while also demonstrating its credentials to provide services in the emerging green finance market.”
