Mourant is celebrating two lawyers named on the 2025 eprivateclient Crown Dependencies NextGen Leaders list.
Senior Associate Stephan Venter (pictured) and Associate William Barnes, both members of the firm’s Jersey Litigation team, have been recognised.
Stephan specialises in multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes that cover a wide range of areas, including contentious trust disputes, insolvency litigation, corporate recovery, fund disputes, and general commercial litigation. With extensive experience in these fields, he is well-equipped to provide valuable counsel and guidance to clients seeking legal support for their complex and high-stakes disputes.
William’s expertise lies in multi-jurisdictional trust and corporate disputes, fraud and asset tracing, and insolvency proceedings. He joined Mourant in 2022, initially working in the firm’s BVI office before joining the Jersey team in April of this year.

The 2025 eprivateclient Crown Dependencies NextGen Leaders is based on PAM Insight’s experience and knowledge of which talented individuals in Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Jersey are the rising stars of the industry. Those featured on the list are recognised for both personal achievements to date and future leadership potential.
In 2023 the annual Channel Islands NextGen Leaders list superseded the eprivateclient Channel Islands Top 35 Under 35, which ran successfully for five years since its launch in 2018. Last year, eprivateclient further evolved the initiative to recognise practitioners in Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Jersey, creating a definitive Crown Dependencies NextGen Leaders list.
Stephen Alexander, head of the Jersey Litigation team, commented: “I am delighted to see two members of our Jersey Litigation team recognised by eprivateclient as future leaders of our industry. The depth and breadth of up-and-coming talent on the Island remains impressive, so this is a significant achievement for both Stephan and William. Their inclusion on the list is recognition not only their individual excellence, but also the expertise within our wider team.”
