Aviation fans will once again have the chance to meet the pilots and see some of the planes taking part in the Guernsey Air Display.
Meet the Pilots will be held on Wednesday 8th September from 2pm to 5pm at Guernsey Airport, the day before the main display, and is attended by hundreds of people of all ages each year.
“While we were able to hold the Air Display last year, Covid restrictions meant we couldn’t hold the Meet the Pilots event which we know was disappointing for aviation enthusiasts and the children who love the chance to see the planes,” said event organiser Gary Elson.
“It is fantastic that restrictions have eased sufficiently for us to plan for Meet the Pilots again this year. It is always a great afternoon and we know how much islanders love the opportunity to get up close to some of the stars of the display and meet the pilots lucky enough to fly them. We’re grateful to Ravenscroft for its continued sponsorship which allows us to put the event on and ensure that all the donations at the event go to the Guernsey Air Display.”
Subject to any serviceability and weather issues, Meet the Pilots will welcome a Spitfire, P51 Mustang, Team Raven, the Muscle Pitts, and an Army Wildcat helicopter to the static display. In addition, the CIAS Islander, Junior JOEY and an airport fire truck, which are particularly popular with children, will also be there.
Entry to Meet the Pilots is by donation and parking will be available in the main Airport car park.
“Meet the Pilots is a lovely event and we had no hesitation in sponsoring it again as part of Ravenscroft’s support of the Guernsey Air Display. The team behind the display does a fantastic job in raising the funds, securing the planes and making it all happen and so we hope that hundreds of islanders come to Meet the Pilots and help us raise as much money as possible to ensure the Air Display continues for many years to come,” said Mark Bousfield, group managing director of Ravenscroft.
