Applications have opened for businesses to access the £5.3 million of match funding available to improve productivity and invest in training.

Employers can now put forward their plans to Jersey Business, who are administering the scheme. The first round of grants is open until the end of 2025. A second round of funding applications will open in 2026.

These grants are part of the Government’s £20m Better Business Support Package which is designed to help employers invest in their productivity and competitiveness, ensuring they can thrive during the shift to a living wage and well into the future. £4.3 million is available to help employers boost productivity and skills, alongside £1 million set aside for business development in the visitor economy. Access to the grants is through a portal managed by Jersey Business.

Paul Murphy (pictured), CEO of Jersey Business, said: “The Better Business Grant signals a real desire to see Jersey’s economy grow and for businesses across all  sectors to thrive. We have engaged with businesses since the scheme was announced, making sure that they are ready to benefit from the opportunities based on their business priorities, and we know that many businesses have already been reviewing the criteria and considering how they can best deploy the grants to invest in their business.

“There is still plenty of time for businesses to really look at how they work, and what skills could help them to improve, and to receive financial support for it. Improved productivity will help all sectors to grow, and we’re excited about how this scheme will improve profits by enhancing the businesses’ levels of productivity and skills.”

The Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, Deputy Kirsten Morel, said: “This is a significant investment in improving the productivity of Jersey’s businesses and the skills of their employees, and I know that many employers have been seriously considering what improvements they want to make in preparation for the opening of the application process. Throughout 2025 and 2026, more than £10m will be available for Jersey employers to invest in their productivity and people, and I would urge all businesses and charities to consider applying.”
